In its project “NOVO BRASIL!”, the ensemble cross.art proposes to research and present New Brazilian music and the work of composers active in a broader international scene. This project’s idea came from the deep rich ensemble work on its both trips to Brazil in 2011 and 2013, during the First and second Biennial Music Today Curitiba, where musicians discovered the richness and originality beyond the already world famous popular music.

For the project “NOVO BRASIL!”, ensemble cross.art – with Saeko Takayama (violin), Céline Papion (cello) and Junko Yamamoto (Piano) – was 2013 in Lübeck DE, Esslingen DE, Curitiba BR, Campinas BR and now comes to Reutlingen DE.

Composition Workshop & concert

Saeko Takayama, Céline Papion and Junko Yamamoto – ensemble cross.art

Following the principle that a music festival should not only present concerts, but also develop the educational aspect, the Biennial Music Today presents to the public on Friday the composition workshop pieces, alongside with lectures and debates, this workshop was a vast discussion panel with many exchange possibilities among professionals in different levels of development, as well as the public in general. The “Winter Seminar of Contemporary Music in Curitiba” took place also during this week’s activities as part of the workshop.
The Composition Workshop was held for four young composers – Guilherme Bertissolo (Brazil), Morgan Krauss (United States), Paul McGuire (Ireland) and Rodrigo Bussad (Brazil) – They were selected from more than forty candidates from around the world, and have worked for a week together with the ensemble cross.art under 2nd Biennial’s Resident Composer, Marcos Balter.
